Maria Giuditta: the good singing, the love for Mazzurega and the secrets for a quality welcoming.
Visiting Tenute Ugolini means diving into a new world where beauty, art, history and the deepest Valpolicella, express themselves in all their glory. As for coordinating all the welcoming activities, Maria Giuditta Guglielmi Ugolini, mixes her beautiful smile with charisma and professionalism.
“I began practicing the art of welcoming at an “illegal age”, I was only 13 years old, at a small tavern here in Fumane and even then I loved getting close to visitors, talk with them, know where they were coming from and tell them everything about my Valpolicella “.
Today, Maria Giuditta manages, together with a passionate group of young oenologists, all the welcoming activities and the various tours. A unique offer untangling between the vines, the olive trees, the winery and San Michele of Fumane’s villa. “The presence of visitors in Valpolicella during the last five years has definitely grown exponentially and also our Tenute have seen a constant growth, especially by foreign tourists”.
A life between Mazzurega, Fumane and Italian stages
“I love my land, Fumane’s valley, always so green and breezy. I adore my small Mazzurega borough where I live: a scenic jewel where the last vineyards merge with the first woods’ sightings. The Alta Valle of Fumane that breaths the fresh breezes of the Lessinia’s Mountains and watches over the big Plain from above. I love to loose myself while listening to the sounds of nature surrounding me and feel its musicality”.
Maria Giuditta is a musician, graduated in Opera singing at the prestigious Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. Every once in a while her beautiful voice elevates above the vineyards and walls of the ancient villa and everything becomes even more fascinating. She dedicated a tour visit for all music lovers and for those who desire to be moved beyond another Valpolicella glass.
Wine & Opera
Verona has recently reached 100 years from the first Opera show in the Arena. There is a very intimate bond between the people of Verona and Opera and this is jealously kept by them. Maria Giuditta decided to bring those entering the charming spaces of San Michele’s Villa closer to this wonderful music tradition.
“Wine & Opera is born to amaze visitors with a lyrical cup becoming the emotional background to the delightfulness of our wines. I combined each one of them, according to their characteristics and expressiveness, with an opera character, a lyrical aria that duets with wine “.
Valle Alta Tour: a visit at the most heroic Valpolicella
“For those who love nature, history and want to know more about the natural conformation of Fumane’s Valley I strongly advice to take part in the Valle Alta Tour: our most heroic vineyard, where grapes are born for Amarone“. For this tour, Tenute Ugolini have reached an agreement with San Giorgio Ingana Poltrón’s agency, Here I Am, and in particular the owner, Andrea Gelmetti, who is part of AIGAE – The Italian Association for Professional Interpretive Nature Guides. “It is abeautiful excursion, of roughly one our and a half, with 100 meters of altitude difference, which divides between Bure, the Marega, the Valle Alta and the close countryside; the guide will explain the history and the geology of Fumane’s Valley, together with the history of the vineyard’s cultivations in these lands”.
Monte Solane…my wine
Maria Giuditta doesn’t need to think for a long time when asked about her favorite wine: it is Monte Solane, obtained from the grapes of vigna del sole, the highest and most exposed of the family’s properties.
“Monte Solane perfectly interprets my idea of wine in Valpolicella. A Ripasso that keeps all its drinkability, authenticity and precision in the spiced perfumes infused with the crunchy black cherry. The Valpolicella that knows how to mediate between tradition, history and modernity. A musical wine in its own way… a high note of emotions making the soul tremble“.
